Well it’s Columbus day, so that means a day off from work. Spent the day like I spent the entire weekend and just took it easy. Mostly chores around the house and rested. Did get the dog to the dog wash and cooked a nice pot roast dinner for myself and my buddy Rich.
Well this blog has been pretty dead for quite a long time. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. get most of my attention these days. But, now I have some free time on my hands so I figure maybe a little comeback is in order. Tonight my buddy Rich suggested we spend a snowy, cold night having dinner at the nearby Red Robin. Since I haven’t stepped in the doors in over 6 and a half years, I said why not, and was not disappointed. At first the service was really slow, seemed like they forgot about us. But it turned out the server didn’t know he’d been assigned our table. Once he figured it out service was outstanding. Our order was moved to the top of the queue and we got a nice basket of fries to snack on. I ordered the Black and Bleu burger, and though it was a mess to eat it was tasty, though maybe just a bit strong on the Bleu part. It will probably less than six years before I go back again.
We got a lot of snow last night and it is snowing pretty good here right now. Schools already announcing delays for tomorrow. Initiate Operation Snow Day at this time. Start flushing those ice cubes, flipping those PJs inside out, etc.
Earlier I posted that we moved the boy out of the dorm into a temporary apartment. While school is out for the summer, sadly he won’t be coming home for a summer break. He has decided to stay in Golden and do his field study requirements over the summer. This 6 week course is normally taken between the sophomore and junior year, but he was allowed in a year early so we were excited when he got in. However, we just found out today that he has been “hired” as an undergraduate intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden (usually this is for incoming Seniors)! Now, his field session will be only 2 weeks classroom and the he’ll finish the course while getting actual paid hands on experience. So, he’ll be staying with friends for about 3 weeks and then we’ll go back to help him move into an actual apartment (next door to Coors brewery, so my weekends might be full for awhile 😀). Again, we couldn’t be prouder! We’ll miss him, but greatful for all these wonderful opportunities that he keeps getting. via Facebook
