Pac-Man reality TV show in the works

Shared by David

HUH!?!?

pacman.jpgPac-Man as a reality TV show? It's an idea so profanely stupid that it has to be true. Hollywood, it seems, has become the shock jocks of the 21st century, concocting atrocity after atrocity until we squeal for mercy.

According to Deadline.com, Merv Griffin Entertainment has teamed with game maker Namco Bandai Games America, which owns the Pac-Man brand, to develop an unscripted series based on the video game.

The Pac-Man show is envisioned as a “big, crazy Wipeout-type event with a lot of energy,” said Merv Griffin’s president of TV Roy Bank. “The idea we have is to take what Pac-Man is and bring it to life, to bring what is essentially the world’s biggest game of tag to television.”

In other words, Bank has never played a game of Pac-Man in his life.

Pac-Man has been on TV before; anyone remember the Saturday morning cartoon in the early '80s? Hanna-Barbera produced it beginning in 1982. In 1984, it joined the Rubik, The Amazing Cube Hour. Yeah, it was as bad as it sounds.

Because Pac-Man celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, I suppose it made an obvious target for TV. But a reality show? I wouldn't sweat it. This has all the marks of a trial balloon. And this sucker is going to pop long before it sees the light of day.

Take note of these 2011 Boy Scout requirement changes

BSArequirements2011 Any great organization constantly tweaks and adapts its requirements to better reach its members, and the Boy Scouts of America is no exception.

To that end, the BSA announced this week which requirements will change in 2011.

One big item is actually more of a clarification than a complete change. It affects the requirements for the Eagle Scout rank. Here's what it says:

"The 2009 printing of the Boy Scout Handbook inadvertently included bugler as a position of responsibility under Eagle Scout requirement 4; it is not. … The corrected Eagle Scout requirement 4 will appear in the next printing of the Boy Scout Handbook."

That paragraph is consistent with an Ask the Expert question we fielded back in March of 2010. As we told you then, Bugler is not an official position of responsibility for Eagle Scout, but it is O.K. to use with Life or Star ranks.

Another change affects requirement 6 of the Life rank. Add subpoint G as a seventh option for Scouts teaching the EDGE method to another Scout. The new option reads: "Three requirements from one of the Eagle-required merit badges, as approved by your unit leader."

The other 2011 requirement changes affect merit badges:

  • Requirements for Astronomy, Horsemanship, and Nuclear Science merit badges have been revised. (Click each link for the new requirements)
  • Minor updates will be made to the requirements for Archery and Sports merit badges. (Click each link to see the revisions)
  • Three new merit badges that were added in 2010 will be added to the 2011 Boy Scout Requirements Book: Geocaching, Inventing, and Scouting Heritage.

Keep in mind, though, that a Scout who has started working on a merit badge when a new pamphlet or requirements come out may continue working from the original requirements. He need not start the merit badge over.

We'll give you the specific requirement changes for those merit badges as soon as we have them, so stay tuned.

Daves Spicy Chicken, Beans and Rice Soup

Photo by svenwerkI made this for dinner tonight out of leftovers in the fridge, pretty much because I was too lazy to head to the store.  I had no plan on writing this down, but surprisingly, my family loved this so I have to record it before I forget what went into it.  I prepped it after lunch and allowed it to cook during the afternoon football games and it was done by dinner.  I thought it was really good, and my son said it was tasty with just a little bit of “kick” which he really liked.

Prep Time: 15-20 Minutes  Cook Time: 3 hrs 30 min

Ingredients

10 Cups of Water
1 Leftover Chicken Carcass
1 Onion (cut into 4 wedges)
4 Cups cooked & drained Pinto Beans
1 TBSP Crushed Red Chili Flakes
1 tsps. Garlic Salt
2-4 grinds Mt Shavino Grind
2 Chopped Green Chilies
1 Cup uncooked rice

Instructions

  1. Put water into a large pot and bring to a boil
  2. Drop Chicken Carcass into boiling water and reduce heat to simmer
  3. Cover pot and allow chicken carcass to simmer around 2 hours
  4. Remove all bones and skin from your broth
  5. Place onion into broth
  6. cover and let simmer for about 30 Minutes
  7. Put in beans, chilies, and spices, replace cover and simmer 30 minutes
  8. Turn up heat and heat soup to a low boil
  9. Pour in rice, cover pot, reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes

    New Years Eve 2011

Had a great time last night in Longmont celebrating New Years Eve. My In-Laws did a great job hosting their party!

    Quiet night in

    image

Well it is a cold and snowy night and so we stayed in tonight.  A nice meal of BBQ’d ribs (from the oven not the the grill) .  Followed by my very first HD movie streamed off the internet to the TV.  The boy chose Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.  All I can say is I am glad this “rental” was free, because I thought this movie was awful. A few funny moments but not nearly as good the first Cats and Dogs, which in my opinion, was mediocre at best.

We then played a round of Balderdash, which I of course won.  All in all a good night.
