Well I have not had much access to my computer today.  The boy was playing Age of Empires this morning so I couldn’t type.  The tournament is over for us.  Rough morning with a loss moving the boy down to 37 place for a 2-3 record.  Last minute rally at the end for a win and a over all record of 3-3.  Not good enough for a trophy but as long as he plays his hardest and has fun we don’t care. 

A rough tournament for the whole SRES K-3 team.  I think we’ll come in 5th or 6th in the team division.  The Boy will end in second place for his team, but that just will not be good enough with such tough competition.  On the other hand it looks like the 4-6 grade team faired a bit better and may walk out with a third place trophy.  Still too early to tell as some games are still going on.

Well that last win in Round 3 helped.  Back up to 23 overall (out of 78 kids), so not bad.  SRES Team moved up on notch to 7th place in the team place.  "The Boy" now in a firm first place on the team.  Last round taking place right now so we’ll be leaving here soon (I hope).  Been here since 7:30 AM so a long day.  Be packing up here in a second, so no more updates for awhile.

Well the boy just came back.  Unfortunately, another loss (against another "unrated" player), so that brings us to 2-2 for the day.

CSCC Round 3 is over (at least for "the boy")… Pulled of a win in 48 moves against another "unrated" player.  He is now 2-1.  We will see soon how that helps in the standings. 

I don’t like the term "unrated"… that just means "we don’t know how good you are really"…  This is for a number of reasons.  It doesn’t mean the player can’t play.

Next round in about an hour (@ 4:00 PM)… Last round started about a half hour late so I don’t know exactly what time the next leg will start.

Round 2 rough all the way around for SRES team.  No winnings for the entire K-3 team.  "The Boy" dropped to 31st overall.  Team feel to 8th place.  Since no winners on the team "The boy" still tied holding a first place slot on the SRES team.  He however, dropped to third overall on the team (don’t make me explain the scoring system because I can’t), and so a loss here in the next round, starting in about four minutes, would really hurt.  Oh well here’s to the next round.

Round #2 is now over at the beginning of round 2 the standings were as follows for "the boy" in the K-3 category

Team tied in a four way tie for 1st place

 

"The boy" lost his second game to another unrated player.  He played this same kid last year and was creamed.  This year he did much better but still lost.  After 2 he is 1-1.  Only four more rounds to go.  Next round begins @ 1:30 local.

Sitting here in the Tivoli in downtown Denver for the 2008 Colorado State Championship.  The boy has already completed the first round.  Playing an unrated player he is now 1-0.  Three more rounds today and then three more tomorrow.  I’ll keep this updated as we go along.  Round 2 starts 11:00 local.
