The David Thuis Blog – Page 418 – Here you can read/hear the ramblings of a pretty boring guy

It’s been awhile

Well hello there.  Hope everyone had a Good holiday season and are enjoying a great new year so far.  It’s been awhile since I wrote anything here, so I thought I’d go ahead and get some type of entry on today.  I don’t have anything exciting to reveal or any interesting stories to share of the last month or so.

I have still been extremely busy.  Between "the boys" holiday breaks, illnesses going around the house, Cub Scouts, Chess Club, and the holidays themselves, I can’t seem to catch a break.

Always doing something.  Biggest items right now:  Cub Scout blue and Gold, Cub Scout Re-Charter, and helping a friend with his candidacy for Colorado House of Representatives (Don’t ask how we got on board with that).  Just finished a new web site for our friend (http://markwallerforhd15.org) and now we are working on a "meet the candidate" party to be held at Sky Sox stadium in the first week of march.

Finding a new job has not gone well so far.  To be honest I haven’t had much time to look, nor do I really want to.  Being a stay at home dad has been great, for the most part.  If it weren’t for the crummy pay I’d probably stay home for a lot longer than I am planning.  Hopefully, things will start to slow down here in the next couple of weeks and I can jump back into the job search again, shoot, I might even start trying on some of those New Years resolutions I promised myself (and no I wont share).

Hmmmm…. Like I said not much to say here.  Tonight, is another "Spirit Night" for "the boys" school at Skate City.  I think they have one of these things about every other month.  To be honest I am getting a bit tired of all this fund raising stuff.  Seems money is constantly going out the door for something or other.  I guess I would mind a bit less if I actually knew more about where the money is going.  I mean I think we have had about 12 fundraiser’s for the school alone this year.  I know the PTO bought some new computers for the teachers, but that is about it.  I mean I pay my taxes, school fees, and buy all the items on the big "back to school" list so what more am I buying with all these dinners and Skate City nights?  I guess if I saw some type of list once in awhile I’d be happier, but oh well… almost went negative there.

As I type this I am having an IM conversation with my nephew on MSN Messenger… He is in kindergarten and lives in California.  He sure likes to IM on the computer, always has… Hopefully, I am still making some sense as I type here. 🙂

I haven’t worked on the main portion of this site in forever.  The portal is still not working quite right, but I haven’t lost any sleep over it.  After almost a 12 year presence on the web I am starting to lose a little interest in maintaining all these sites.  I think this may be the last year for a couple of the sites I do run.  I foresee the Schools PTO site going by the wayside after this year(http://srespto.org).  After four years running I just don’t think it is used much… Still undecided about the Cub Scout site (http://cspack225.org),  might try another year on that one, but I don’t think it’s being used much either.  Seems to be a lot of time and money (out of my pocket) being wasted.

Well I think I’ve rambled here a bit too long… so I am going to go for know.  It is one of my resolutions to try and update this thing with boring dribble a bit more often… of course that has been a resolution for the last three years… Anyway here’s to success and happiness in 2008!

I’m Back!

Well not much happened over the last few days.

Thursday was resume’ day.  I got quite a lot done on it, but unfortunately didn’t finish it…  Thursday night I worked a bit at getting the Thuis.US portal back up and running.  I can’t seem to get a block to work right.  I can place text in alright, but when I try to include html script, the stupid thing just erases my inputs and inserts a blank block.  Frustrating… Oh well not that big of a deal really.  Might just stick to this blog being the front page for a while.

The wife came back from Florida on Friday.  I spent the entire day working on scrubbing the house down before her arrival.  The house wasn’t that bad, but after a week of bachelor living with the boy it did need picked up.  I figured why stop at a pick up and ended up making everything sparkle. Chess practice on Friday night followed by a traditional Friday night dinner with friends.

Saturday I worked a bit on my resume.  Was interrupted by water leaking out of freezer in the kitchen.  After about an hour of investigation, found a blocked evaporator drain in the back that I had to defrost and fix.  Everything seems to be working fine now.  Well see if the water starts draining out again.

Sunday I was feeling a bit under the weather… Not sure what was wrong, must have been some bug.  Seem better today… A quick trip to the Commissary on Peterson was about all I could muster.  Watched the Bronco’s get creamed again by the Raiders.

Today, been busy so far, I completed my first resume.  Of course I did find a couple of errors right after I sent it out to some friends and family for review.  Oh well, I guess that is what a draft is for, isn’t it?  Updated the SRESPTO.ORG site… not much more than a few announcements on the front page and updated the events page.   Lastly, one update to the cspack225.org in which I posted an upcoming overnighter hosted by the Denver Nuggets.

Tonight is our first Den meeting for Cub Scouts in December.  This month we are covering “Celebrations throughout the World”.  Hopefully, it will be a decent time.

Don’t know if I’ll be able to post another entry or not tonight after the meeting… I’ll be watching the finale of Heroes tonight on NBC.  Hope that’s worth the anticipation.
