Cub Scout Winterspree – The David Thuis Blog

Cub Scout Winterspree

Today Cadets from the USAFA Eagles Club (Cadet’s that earned Eagle Scout), and a slew of volunteers held a day of fun for the Cub Scouts at the Air Force Academy.

After a chilly 8F start the day was a blast.  We were all exhausted when it was over.  You can view all the photos on my Facebook page, on the blog photo tab or by clicking below.

  1. Mr. Thuis,

Sir, thank you for attending our 2009 Winterspree! I hope you and your son has a lot of fun in addition to learning a thing or two about falcons, first aid, flying, or any number of our other events.

I know our Cadets had a great time working with all of the Cub Scouts; we were blown away by the complexity and depth of some of the questions the boys asked. Each of our escorts could only speak positively about the ease at which they were able to entertain the scouts and surprise to the length at which they, themselves, were entertained by the scouts. It seems we learned just as much from all of the boys as they learned from us.

We were very happy to see such a great turn out of scouts to the first Winterspree since 2002, and that could not have happened without parents like you; thank you.

If you, or your pack/den, would like help with anything from the USAFA Eagle’s Club please send a request email to (usafa.eagle.club@gamail.com), and we will do our best to find someone who can help you. Our club is made of Eagle Scouts and other interested scouters who, together, afford a vast background and knowledge base for the community. Our cadets have expert knowledge in hiking, camping, winter survival, in addition to many other skills. For Boy Scouts we teach many high adventure merit badges including cycling, rifle, life saving, and more. With over 60 members, we can do a lot.

Also, if you would like to help us make next year’s Winterspree 2010 even better we would appreciate a short summary of our event from your point of view. What did you like and what you think we can improve. Were there an adequate number of cadets at each station? If not, which station and how many more or less cadets would have been more appropriate? Other comments or concerns that you would like to share with us. Please email your response to the above email and I will make sure your comments go in our AAR.

    Thank you again sir.

    Very Respectfully,

    C2C David J. Arlington
