Happy Cinco De Mayo

100_9225I hope everyone had a great day!

I got to spend a lovely day with the Third Graders from Springs Ranch Elementary School at the Paint Mines Interpretive Park Near Calhan, Colorado.

It was hot and boy did we hike a ton, but I think everyone had a pretty good time.  We must have hiked at least 7 miles in the nearly six hours we spent there, but again I can’t complain I still need the exercise.

After we got back to the school I stuck around and helped the kids work 100_9229on some animal art projects they are making.  Definitely different, but fun.

Tonight, we had the first Den meeting of the month.  It was still went pretty good even though the boys were spent and slightly sunburned from our trip with the school.  This months theme is "Leaf it to Cubs" and we are primarily looking at trees.  We had the boys choose what type of tree they wanted to be and the write a "resume" listing their qualities.  The winner got to be placed in my back yard. :)  After the resume we went outside and broke the boys into two teams.  Each team had two minutes to look around and observe "nature".  After the two minutes were up we went back inside and each team had one minute to write down what they saw.  Some very interesting items were brought up.

We ended a bit early as we were all tired.  No one complained…
