Roundtable and VP Debate

Slow day today… not much to report.

Went to the High Plains District Round table tonight. This is the monthly leaders meeting for the Boy/Cub Scout leaders in the District. Tonight’s meeting was O.K. Not much of importance was talked about.

Missed the initial “live” broadcast of the V.P. debate, but did catch a rebroadcast once I got home. I watched it purely for the entertainment factor. Won’t change how I vote on election day. Palin looked much better than the press has been making her look lately. Biden was definitely more “polished” than Palin, but I still couldn’t pick a clear winner.

Speaking, of politics. I was a bit disappointed to hear that McCain voted yes on the “bailout” bill. Now I know he has been all over T.V. lately saying he would vote yes on this bill, but he also said during President debate #1 he hated “pork” in legislation; and as I hear this bill was full of it. I know he would have been stuck with either vote vote, but I’d rather hear him in the near future saying he voted “no” based off all the “sweeteners” in this bill.

Sound-alike songs from the ’80s – Stuck in the 80’s

It’s not unusual to find songs that sound familiar to previous tunes, but Stuck in the ’80s correspondent and technical guru David Peterkofsky has gone one step further and created this video that highlights “sound-alike” hit songs from the ’80s:

What do you think? Some are a little fishier than others!

Hectic Day and Night

Hello everyone!  Did you have a good day?  My day was pretty hectic.

Stared out with one of the sites I manage (http://cspack225.org) crashing hard.  It wouldn’t work at all.  Turned out one of the tables in my SQL database had been corrupted and I had to rebuild it.

togetherYou say you don’t know what a table in a SQL database is… well don’t feel bad,  I didn’t either.  So it took a bit of “on the job” training to figure out what was wrong and fix it.  The site is back up and running for the most part.   The photo gallery is still broken and it doesn’t appear I’ll be able to fix it.  That’s the third time in two years that portion of the site had gone down, I think I’ll have to come up with a better alternative.

Off to tonight… “the boy” was trying to keep us busy tonight with three events all scheduled for the same time, or at least close to each other; Flag football practice, a chess tournament, and a Cub Scout Pack meeting.  We decided to skip football and juggle time between chess and the Pack Meeting.  Both these event were in the school so it worked out pretty well.

I was impressed with the boy as he’d go play chess and then attend the meeting in between rounds.  Even doing that he placed 1st in the 4th and 5th grade division.

batmobileThe Pack meeting went well … A detective from CSPD visited and he brought a little toy.  The $250,000 BATMobile (only  one of three in the entire state) for us to play on.  I think the boys enjoyed it.

I have more pictures and I’ll let you know where you can view them once I figure out where to place the Cub Scout photos.

2008 Year in Review

The 2008 Sky Sox baseball season was one of the most successful in the organizations 21-year history. With the largest capital improvements in the franchise’s history completed, over eight and a half million dollars invested in total, the Sky Sox enjoyed tremendous support from the fans of Colorado Springs and had some amazing moments on and off the field.
