Another Sunday

Well today was another quiet and boring day. Rain outside and "the wife" in Wahington D.C. gave me some time to get some thing done around the house. I finally figured out what was wrong with the Cub Scout website I administrate (http://cspack225.org) and now it is back up and running. Still some problems but I can live with those.

I am currently the Committee Chairman for the above Cub Scout Pack and so I also spent some time tring to finalize our annual Back to School picnic that we are having next weekend. This is probably our biggest event of the year. All the school staff, local Scout staff, and families are invited to attend. Luckily I got one of the local Boy Scout troops coming in to help us run the the picnic so it should go pretty smooth... I'll let you all know in the week to come....

Baseball Closing Ceremony

This afternoon we had our closing ceremony for the kids. Normally we have a big ceremony where we read off all the kids’ names, present them with an award, and then have a meal. Today's was outside and a hazardous weather warning made today’s ceremony a bit different. Today we just got together as teams on the PAFB Parade grounds ate pizza “picnic style” and passed out each kid’s award. I actually really liked the arrangement. Less formal, but I got to spend a bit more time with the kids. I probably would have had a better time if I wasn’t still so tired from the Scout-Sox game last night.

Sky Sox Scout game 2007

Well, last night spent a cool, rainy night out at Security Service Field with the Scouts and the Sky Sox. This is an annual event and it seems that every year it is the coldest night of the summer and it rains. Overall, we still had a great time watching the game, the fireworks, and spending the night on the field. Feels like I only got 45 minutes of sleep though, so I got to go take a nap!

Last Baseball Game of the Season

Tonight, we had our last baseball game of the season! Overall what a great season we had. As a coach, I am always so impressed that these kids go from a rag tag group of players to a real team in such a short span of six weeks. Although tonight’s game was highlighted by rain that wouldn’t stop (we still played on) the kids never complained. Not bad for a bunch of 7-9 year olds. The gam was finally called in the fifth inning when the lightning began. Great job Red Sox on another fantastic season.

All Alone

Well "the wife" took off today for another class in Washington D.C.. Who could have figured that once I retired from the military it would be her that started traveling all over the place instead of me. I am really glad that she gets a chance to go somewhere though, even if it leads me into the uncharted single parent waters. She did great on all the times I had to go somewhere. She'll be back in a week so I guess I'll see how well I do until then.

Website Problems

Currently I am desperately trying to fix one of the websites I run for the Cub Scouts of Pack 225 (http://cspack225.org/). It seems when you go to the site it comes up but there is no information on the page. I am trying to figure out what is wrong but I just don’t know enough about php (the language used for this page). I guess I keep playing around until I figure it out.

Sky Sox Matinee

Today we spent yet another day out at Security Service Field with the Sky Sox. Today, it was with a bunch of our friends that work with my wife. We got to use the brand new picnic pavilions at the field (FREE Food YEAH) and even “the boy” got into the act as the Junior Announcer, in which he got to announce the home team players during the forth inning.

Colorado Renaissance Festival

Today we went to Larkspur Colorado to spend some time at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. I haven’t been to this since I was in my teens. “The boy” especially liked pretending he was Robin Hood at the archery range. And I especially liked the Turkey Legs…

Santa's Workshop

Went up to Santa’s Workshop today… A place I have not been to since I was near my son’s age. Still a great place for the kids. I was a bit disappointed to see that the reindeer that I remember are gone, but we still had a great time.

Sky Sox V Portland

Spent the day today down at Security Service Field watching a double header with the Sky Sox facing the Portland Beavers. During the first game the Sox did not fair to well, ending the game with a horrendous 1 - 11 loss. After that game most of the already small crowd headed home. For those that decided to stick it out and endure the heat and miserable showing, we were awarded with a spectacular second game. A 9-4 win in the second game placing the Sky Sox in first place in the PCL Pacific North, something we have not seen here in awhile.
