What a day...

Well today was "computer" day...

Watched the latest episode of "Heroes" on NBC.COM (love that show!)... While I did that I...

Updated the SRES PTO Site (http://srespto.org)... Added all the meeting minutes for the year and changed "next meeting" date.

Updated the Cub Scout Pack 225 site (http://cspack225.org).  Lots of updates here, but you won't be able to see them until 1 Dec.  That's when the "software" has been told to publish the new items.

A bunch of Committee Chair e-mails sent out trying to coordinate upcoming Cub Scout Events.  We will see how much drama those start up here in the next 24 hours.

Thuis.US portal is almost back up and running.  Won't be "public" for awhile though as I work out some of the "bugs".  Unfortunately, all users will have to reregister (I think we only had two anyway).  Look for this in the next week or so,  I have worked up a new "schedule" and computer day is not again until Monday (unless I get some "free time").

Tomorrow, is Resume day... so no e-mails, web updates, or blog entries until I have a good rough draft.  I still don't know if I want to go back to work yet, but my bank account is telling me otherwise.

After the boy came home we had Tacos for dinner... yum yum... The wife has been out of town on business since Monday so some good bachelor type cooking was in order for the Thuis boys.  We then watched some Shrek Christmas Special followed by "The Grinch who Stole Christmas".  Off to the shower for the boy while I watched the new "Bionic Woman" on NBC... A bit of cleaning until the news started (bored yet?)...

Now I see local family "friend" sparkles the clown is being shown on News 13 for submitting a question to CNN's Republican Debate via You Tube.  A nice lady, who I like a lot, but sometimes I don't really know how she can do all the videos she puts together.  Oh well I have this boring blog and she has her videos... we all have our hobbies I guess.

Well the news is over... I am tired... and I think I have rambled enough boring blather for one night.

MLB.com News Story - Rockies release 2008 spring schedule

David Thuis has sent you a message from MLB.com.

Anyone want to head to Tucson this spring?

Rockies release 2008 spring schedule

C.J. Moore / MLB.com

The Rockies released their 2008 Spring Training schedule on Tuesday, and their bid to return to the World Series will begin on the road on Feb. 27 at Tucson Electric Park against the Chicago White Sox in the Cactus League.

Thanks for visiting MLB.com, where baseball is always on

Where have you been?

For the very few of you that read this you may have noticed a bit of a break in the postings (like two weeks).  Well I guess I just got a bit overwhelmed on the gamut of things I have committed myself to and the computer stuff got a bit of a hiatus.

A bunch of recent drama in Scouts has totally left me burned out and I am definitely considering leaving my Committee Chair position here soon.  I'll probably just go back into the trenches and be a Den leader again.  Being with the boys is soooo much easier than working with parents and the leaders.

Still working on my resume... Have not made much progress, though I have decided I am ready to go back to work.  When you have a job it is soooo much easier.  If I hear "Dave, since you are retired do you think you could" one more time I will probably lose my mind.

Well I do have a bunch of "draft" blog entries here that I am going to try and finish up before I need to get the boy from the bus.  I probably wont finish them as it is already nearly 2 and I still have a ton of other things to do before 4 when I need to be at the bus stop.

November Pack Meeting

Well we closed out the "Indian Nations" theme tonight for Pack 225 at what I think was one of the better Pack meetings of the year. A bit unorthodox as far as meetings go as we did not do any of the "normal" items we usually do. We decided it would be fun to invite the HA-KIN-SKAY-A-Ki Lodge 387 Order of the Arrow dance team come and perform tonight. This is a team of Boy Scouts who perform Indian dances. I think the boys really enjoyed it. Pictures (of course) are here...

Last Den Meeting of The month

Last Den meeting of the month tonight and once again I think it was a huge success. After three years of practice I think we are finally getting the hang of this... maybe. Boys played some "Indian Nation" games and finished up their projects that they are going to display at the months Pack meeting. Photos are here if you wish to view.

Unfortunately, right after the above meeting I attended a Parent Meeting to discuss February's Blue and Gold. Two hours of drama. Don't know why this has to be hard but for some it just has to be. Oh well headache tonight so this will be short.

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat!

Well after coming in 4th, 4th, and 1st in the last three tournaments, the boy met his match in today's Chess Tournament. Winning only 1 of his 5 matches he came in down in the bottom of the pack... Oh well better luck next time.

Slow Night

Well tonight was a slow night. "The Boy" had chess practice and most of that time was spent setting up the school for the Rocky Mountain k-12 Grade Chess Championships which we are hosting tomorrow. Wife went to a "jewelry" party tonight while we worked. Hope she did not spend to much money. The boys went and joined them late after practice, but by that time the spending was pretty much done.

3rd Grade Musical

Well tonight was the night for the SRES third grade music presentation of "Go Fish". This was actually a pretty good show. Made it fun to watch since I saw both the 3:00pm and 7:00pm showings. "the Boy" did have a small role in this years show as a "red Snapper". He didn't have to do much, but still nice to see him in his first role!

What a night!

Tonight was another fun and exciting night...  After having a quick dinner of spaghetti (which I really dislike) it was back to SRES for Chess practice for the boy and a wonderful Pack Planning meeting for the adults.  The adult meeting went into overtime so we didn't get home until late...  oh well... tired... I'll write more later....

Another Den Meeting

DSC09018_edited-1 Tonight we had the second den meeting of the month. Today the boys listened to a story about the trees, played Indian dice, and worked on displays of local Indian housing that will be displayed at this months Pack meeting. Again I think they had a great time, thanks to the two mom's that put on this month's meeting. Again photo's of tonight's meeting can be viewed on the Packs website by going to http://cspack225.org or by clicking here.

Happy Birthday!

Well today we say happy birthday to "the boy". He celebrated his 9th birthday today at a place called Pump in Up, which is right here in town.

Veteran's Day Parade

Today we had the honor of participating in the Colorado Veteran's Day Parade. This is pretty special as only 5 Cub Scout groups are chosen to participate in this annual event and this was our second time chosen (first time last year). This year was much warmer than last year and the boys actually got to enjoy the parade. Also it didn't hurt that we were right in the front of the parade so we didn't miss much.

Pictures are on the cspack225.org website accessible here or by clicking on the picture above.

1st Place!

Congratulations to "the boy" once again... He has been playing in the three month long Colorado Springs District 49 Chess Tournament and won 1st Place in the 2nd - 3rd grade category. Beating 27 other player and being the only undefeated player winning 7 games straight! His efforts definitely led to Springs Ranch winning the entire championship and winning the 1st place team trophy.

Well I Give up

I give up… At least for tonight…  Have tried about four different configurations and still can not get the thuis.us portal back up and running… My fault for trying to update to the newest version when the older one was working fine L …  I can’t even get the backup up and running… Followed the instructions and actually had it up and running, but it installed in the wrong directory… Tried to fix that and it said that the installation was successful but now every time I go to the site I get a blank page…  So for know you’ll just be getting this blog on the thuis.us site until I figure out how to get everything up and running or go back to what I had originally…

Thuis.US Main Site Down

Well the main portal for Thuis.us is currently down. I made the mistake of trying to upgrade the software and everything crashed. Followed the instructions but not avail... So starting from scratch :( ... Should be back up in some form or fashion by the end of the day, but we'll see what happens.

Skate City Night

Well today I was busy working around the house. Then just for a break I decided to work on the new portal. Running a php portal called PHP-Nuke and I am not very familiar with it so I am not having much luck. Initially installed V 6.0 over a year ago to play with the system. Now they have a much "improved" V 8.0, and that's what I have been trying to upgrade to for the last couple days, without much luck.

Anyway spend the night again at the local Skate City for SRES "Spirit Night". We have way too many of these nights... I think this is the 5th "Spirit Night" this year so far. Now the money raised goes to the school, so I can't complain too much, but how of these things do we need to have? Oh well, the boy had fun with his friends and I guess that's all that's important.

Cub Scout Den Meeting Tonight

We had our first Den Meeting of the month tonight. This months theme is Indian Nations. Tonight the boys made Beaded Jewelry, and learned how to play Stick Dice and Pokean. They also discussed crafts, customs, shelter, food, and games of American Indians who lived in our area. I think they had fun… Thanks to my wife and SRES 3rd Grade teacher Mrs. Starr (also parent of one of our fine Den 3 Scouts) who helped put on this months theme! You can view pictures by

New Site Look!

Thuis.US Homepage has received a facelift.  Something I have been working on occasionally for about the past year.  Go to http://thuis.us and let me know what you think.
