Man what a week...

It has been quite a busy week and it is not even over with yet...

Friday, 11 April - Cold and snowy today. Got tickets for Sundays Sky Sox Game... Looking forward to opening weekend. Tried to pick-up some box seat tickets the Sox are donating to the school, but they can't be located. Pack Pinewood derby prep. Spent most of the afternoon and evening at Sand Creek High School setting up track, weighing cars etc. Home 10:00pm

Saturday, 12 Apr -Up at 6:00 A.M. and off to Sand Creek High School. Races start at 8:30 AM and of course I am the M.C. Race goes until about 11:00 AM... Assisted with clean-up. Again, the same handful of parents help... Getting a bit tired of this scout stuff. Off to birthday party at Skate City at noon lasts until 2:00 P.M. Home for a quick nap the out for dinner.

Sunday, 13 Apr - The wife heads off early this morning to Fort Worth, TX for another class for work. Only two more or so to go. The boy and I head off with friends (the Waller's) to Sky Sox for opening weekend. Double header today due to the first game of the season being canceled due to "wind chill" (never heard that before). Sunny today, it's only in the high sixties but feels warmer. Looks like the Rockies stole most of the good players this year, as I only recognize a few names on the field. Great seats on the third base line "right on the rail". Sox with one loss and one win. Tried to pick up donated tickets after the game, still a no go.

Game #1 L Tacoma, 7-11, Game #2 W Tacoma, 6-1

Monday, 14 Apr - Man I feel like dookie today. Probably dehydrated from being outside yesterday, and my face is sunburned (yes, I put on sun block). Got a ton of Scout stuff done today, but it doesn't feel like much. Scheduled an appointment with a veteran's employment counselor to help look for a new job, so that's some thing.

Tuesday, 15 Apr - Finally got the tickets for the four box seats for the school. Going to give them away Saturday at the school carnival in a sports basket. Thanks to Mr. Eddy, Sky Sox Community Relations, for the donation. Drop them off at the school along with a few items we borrowed for the Pinewood derby. Back home to coordinate some last minute details for a Cub Scout Roundup (recruiting drive) we are having next week at the school. Pride Assembly at the school @ 2:50 PM, the boy wasn't recognized this time for anything, but I still like to go.

Wednesday, 16 Apr - I wake up with one of the worst headaches I think I've had in recent history. Maybe I am still dehydrated. Not good news as I have an appointment with my employment counselor today at 10:30. After a late start and some Aleve I drop the boy off at school and head of for my appointment. Appointment went really well. A lot of options. My counselor is really nice. Resume is good. Might try some free training to help look for a good job. Headed off to Peterson, AFB commissary for some grub. Then finally home after picking up the boy from the bus.

Today, 17 Apr - A bit of cold weather and snow this morning caused a two hour school delay. After getting the boy off to school I spent most of the day cleaning the house. It wasn't that bad, but the wife will be home tomorrow night and I know the house wasn't up to "standards". Sky Sox would like to set-up the school with a new reading program they are doing this year where they donate tickets for a certain amount of time spent reading, so I sent that off to the school. Decided to have a bit of fun tonight and the boy and I went to the swimming pool on Peterson AFB for family night.

I haven't forgotten you!

O.K. folks I have not forgotten you. I know I am WAY behind on my updates, but I have been sooo busy, I know I keep using that as an excuse, but it’s true. Pinewood Derby, Scouts, Summer Camp planning, etc has kept me busy. I’ll try for some type of update tomorrow afternoon after an appointment I have about getting a new job.

Lazy and Busy

O.K. I know I started to write about Vegas and then just stopped.  Last week was much busier than anticipated, and to be honest when I wasn't busy I just didn't feel like turning on a computer and typing anything on this blog.

So, hopefully, I can finish up the Vegas trip stuff here in the next couple of days.  In the mean time, here's an update of some of the "bigger" items that happened last week.

So, let's see... Monday through Wednesday.  Not much significant (that I can remember) to report.  Worked around the house, and tried to keep the boy entertained on his second week of Spring break.  On Wednesday night "the boy" had one of his buddies stay over night.

Thursday,  the boy, his buddy, and I head off to the public library to do some research for an animal report the kids are working on in school.  Michael's friend was totally against this at first saying "Homework and libraries are for nerds and geek's".  But this guy soon got into the whole process of research and took home more information on his animal, the Gibbon, than the boy, whose animal is the sponge.

Friday we headed off to the butterfly pavilion near Denver. Now I'd like to say this was for fun, but it wasn't.  The school is having a science fair and the boy is doing an experiment that involves butterflies.   The Butterfly Pavilion was nice enough to let us come in, free of charge, and spend 2.5 hours conducting the boys experiment.  It was kind of fun, but sitting in a 85 degree (at least) room with 100% humidity for that long was a bit of a challenge for all of us.

Saturday, the wife spent the morning going door to door campaigning for our friend Mark Waller.  I got to stay home and watch the kids.  I am not sure who got the better end of that deal.  The boy did go over to a buddies house for a sleep over, but ended coming home at midnight when he "couldn't fall asleep".

Sunday, off to wonderful Limon, Colorado for the annual High Plains District awards dinner (Cub Scouts).  I've personally have no issue with Limon, but the hour plus drive with nothing to look at but fields is a bit of a challenge.  The dinner was small but very nice.  Heck, I even won a District Level award for the stuff I've done this year, so not bad at all.

Tonight we had our first Den meeting of the month.  This months theme is Abracubdabra and deals with magic.  So tonight each boy learned three magic rope tricks.  I think they had fun.
